A portfolio: Artist’s portfolio, a sample of an artist’s work or a case used to display artwork, photographs etc. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

The definition is simple to the point, easy.

The actual, physical, mental and emotional aspect of building a portfolio is not so easy.

I don’t want to call them obstacles, I keep trying to find a better, more poetic word.

I set small short-term goals, just to get some practicing, one new technique at a time.  An easy and comfortable beginning.  Just to avoid the bigger, more expensive, obstacles.  But the obstacles are still there, small, but still there.

I am not going to list the obstacles, I am going to comment on the last one and what came of it:

I was editing my little heart away.  Trying to get my RAW pictures in order, so I can add my logo in  Photoshop, and take the best and post them.  The power cord light went away.  So I began to plug and unplug it from the wall.  I then proceeded to plug and unplug it from the computer.  This is called denial;

Denial, in ordinary English usage, is asserting that a statement or allegation is not true;

  1. simple denial: deny the reality of the unpleasant fact altogether (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

The cord is dead, it has charged my lovely computer for the last time, so now I have to wait,  a little while, and put a few things on hold…but what’s a few days to the rest of your life, nothing!

So I headed to the basement, took out a nice white canvas.  White paint, blue paint and green paint.  Placed a splotch of each on a paper plate.  Grabbed an old t-shirt out of my little paint bag and filled a cup with water.  Grabbed my best brush and well, just painted.

This is what came from a little sad frustration and a few moments of inspiration that needed to be satisfied:
